Removal of the "no night" restriction from a Flight Instructor Rating
Pre-entry Requirements
To begin the course for the removal of the “no night” restriction on your flight instructor rating you require:
- Valid Licence with a valid FI(A) rating
- Valid Single-engine piston (land) rating
- Hold either a night qualification or night rating
- Be in current flying practice
The course
To apply for the “no night” restriction to be removed from your FI(A) rating, you must have completed the course which includes:
Flying
- 1 hour dual flight time
Ground School
- 2 hours of groundschool covering all aspects of night flying and the teaching of the night qualification syllabus
What you can do with your new Rating
Fly as a flight instructor giving ab-intio tuition to students both in daylight and at night. You may complete this course before having the supervisory restriction removed from your FI rating but you will not be able to send students on their first night solo flight.
