Distance Learning ATPL Theoretical Knowledge Course

Distance Learning

Cabair’s Distance Learning Course delivered by Cabair Modular at The EUROPEAN PILOT TRAINING ACADEMY is designed to meet the theoretical knowledge requirements detailed by the Joint Aviation Requirements - Flight Crew Licensing (JAR-FCL) for the issue of an Air Transport Pilot’s Licenses (ATPL).

The course comprises of 3 Phases with each phase containing three, five or six modules. Each Phase consists of 13 study periods, and 3 weeks consolidation and revision - including a 1-week Consolidation Training, plus 1 week for the JAR-FCL examinations.

The schedule for each module includes a Self-Assessed Test at the end of each study period. For the majority of the modules this equates to 9 Self-Assessed tests.

At specified points in your studies you are required to complete 3 Progress Tests. These are submitted to EPTA either by e-mail or post, for marking. All the questions have multi-choice answers and their format is very close to that used in the Joint Aviation Authority exams. The Progress Tests will be marked by a specialist tutor and returned to you with an answer/debrief sheet.

If students encounter difficulties with any area of the course material, additional advice and one-to-one tuition will be provided by telephone or e-mail.

Each of the three phases culminates with a one week (Monday – Friday) period of Consolidation Training at EPTA. During this week students take 2 practice examinations for each of the phase subjects. These practice examinations will be taken in examination conditions and will provide a realistic representation of the real JAR examinations. Each practice examination is followed by a full debrief. Consolidation Training weeks are held in either of the 2 weeks preceding the CAA exams which are held every month at a CAA test centre of your choice.

Completion of all of the Study Periods, Self-Assessed Tests and Progress Tests and attendance and successful completion of the consolidation study week are essential JAR prerequisites for entry to the JAR-FCL examinations.
