Pre-entry Requirements

To begin the course for the Class Rating Instructor (Single Pilot Aircraft) (Multi Engine Aircraft) you require:

• Valid UK CAA or JAA-FCL PPL(A) or higher
• Valid MEP (Land) rating
• 500 hours total flight time in aeroplanes
• 30 hours as pilot in command on the relevant type / class of aeroplane

The course

To apply for a Class Rating Instructor (SPA) for Single-engine aircraft the course consists of:

Flying

• 5 hour dual flight time
• Skill test with a CAA FIC examiner

Ground School

• 25 hours of teaching and learning theoretical knowledge instruction

What you can do with your new Rating

The Class Rating Instructor rating for multi-engine aircraft is designed so that the holder can give instruction in multi-engined aircraft but not for ab-initio multi-engine ratings.
