Class Rating Instructor (SPA) (Single-engine Aircraft)
Pre-entry Requirements
To begin the course for the Class Rating Instructor (Single Pilot Aircraft) (Single Engine Aircraft) you require:
- Valid UK CAA or JAA-FCL PPL(A) or higher
- Valid SEP (Land) rating
- 300 hours total flight time in aeroplanes
- 30 hours as pilot in command on the relevant type / class of aeroplane
The course
To apply for a Class Rating Instructor (SPA) for Single-engine aircraft the course consists of:
Flying
- 3 hours dual flight time
- Skill test with a CAA FIC examiner
Ground School
- 25 hours of teaching and learning theoretical knowledge instruction
What you can do with your new Rating
The Class Rating Instructor rating is designed to allow pilots to give instruction for the issue, renewal or revalidation of a SE class or type rating to current licence holders. They may also conduct differences training and may carry out the "flight of an hour's duration with an instructor" as required for SEP(Land) class rating revalidation. They may not carry out ab-initio instruction.
