About EPTA
The European Pilot Training Academy (EPTA) is the official name for Cabair Modular flight training. We are based at Wycombe Air Centre at Wycombe Air Park in Buckinghamshire.
We offer flight training at Wycombe Air Park, Bournemouth Airport and at our two Florida locations – Kissimmee and Merritt Island. Full-time ATPL ground school is provided at Bournemouth.
We also provide the option of completing your ATPL ground school via distance learning with the residential element taking place in Bournemouth. In this way, both flight training and ground studies can be arranged to suit your individual requirements – be they location-specific, time-based or budgetary.
Modular Training with Cabair Modular EPTA
To begin your airline career you will need to achieve a “frozen” Airline Transport Pilot Licence (FATPL).
A typical route to achieving this licence is shown on the flow chart here.
The licence will need to be “unfrozen” once you have a total time of 1500 hours, of which 500 hours must be multi- crew time – this will be completed once you are employed by an airline.
Many airlines prefer to employ pilots who have achieved their licence through a single training provider. Cabair Modular offers you the flexibility to complete your training under one umbrella either at a single location or at a number of different schools to suit your needs. We pride ourselves on offering the same high standard of instruction no matter which Cabair modular school you choose.
Cabair Modular provides bespoke training for individual students looking towards a personalised approach.
We also work in partnership with Buckinghamshire New University’s Air Transport Honours Degree programme and with Kingston University on their Foundation Degree in Aviation Studies, both incorporating commercial flight and ground training.

EPTA at Wycombe Air Park, UK
Wycombe Air Centre was established in 1967 and has built a reputation for efficient, professional and friendly flight training. Offering flight training from PPL through to Commercial Licence and Instrument Rating training, Wycombe Air Centre provides the full flight training package for the ab-initio student.
EPTA at Bournemouth Airport, UK
Bournemouth Airport is the home for EPTA’s full-time and distance learning ATPL theoretical knowledge ground school. It also provides flight training from PPL to Commercial Licence and Instrument Rating from a busy international airport.
EPTA at Kissimmee, USA
The training alliance between EPTA and Orlando Flight Training at Florida’s Kissimmee airport comprises one of the largest JAA flight schools in North America. Florida provides an excellent “fair weather” base for those students wishing to achieve licence issue or to hour build.
EPTA at Merritt Island, USA
Cocoa Beach International at Merritt Island airport is EPTA’s second facility in Florida offering training and aircraft rental. Alongside the Kissimmee location, Merritt Island enhances EPTA’s presence in the United States where flying 360 days per year is virtually guaranteed!
